Child Development Centres And Early Childhood RC

There are three Child Development Centres’ based in Co. Galway; Burrenview CDC, Fairlands CDC and Stepping Stone CDC. They provide an educational service to children with significant learning and physical disabilities and children who are on the Autism Spectrum from 2 years and 8 months to 5 years of age. The duration of a child’s placement is based on an assessment of their needs. When a joint placement with a child’s local mainstream preschool is indicated as the most suitable, we will endeavour to support families for this to happen.

Each child has an ‘Individual Education Plan’ (IEP) and Personal Outcomes goals. Goals are drawn up based on their present abilities, the wishes of the family, and learning objectives.

Programme areas covered are cognitive skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language and communication skills, social skills, play skills, interpersonal & personal skills and self-help skills. Other activities outside of the curriculum are offered.

There are two early childhood resource centres based in Roscommon, Lean Ar Aghaidh Resource centre and Siamsa Resource Centre. They provide an educational service to children with learning and physical disabilities and children whom are on the Autism Spectrum from 2 years and 8 months to 6 years of age.

Programme areas covered are cognitive skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language and communication skills, social skills, play skills, interpersonal & personal skills and self-help skills.

We provide a transition service to support children to move from the resources centres to mainstream educational services.
